Regarded as one of the UK’s top plastic surgeons, Kambiz spent over 12 years specialising in surgical and non-surgical treatments from Rhinoplasty, CO2 Laser Resurfacing and SVF Stem Cell Fat Transfer to Botox injections, Dermal Fillers and PRP.
Dedicating his practice to the field of Aesthetic Medicine, Kambiz has carried through his passion for knowledge, care, safety, and excellence. We sat down with Kambiz to talk latest trends and the next evolution in skin resurfacing.
What do you think Is the most popular aesthetic treatment this year?
RF Microneedling has seen a surge in popularity over the past few years as the technology has started to be recognised by both practitioners and patients as a safe and effective treatment option for achieving considerable improvements to the skin’s firmness, texture, and overall quality.
Microneedling has been around for decades; Can you talk us through the evolution of this technology?
Yes, Microneedling is not a new concept. It is a minimally invasive treatment that involves pricking the skin with tiny, sterilised needles to initiate the wound healing response. This popular treatment has been used for many years when looking to stimulate collagen and elastin.
The first evolution in this well-recognised technology was the introduction and combination of radiofrequency, which saw controlled RF energy delivered to the deeper layers of the skin via the microneedles, making it a much more effective mechanism of action than standard microneedling. Getting this energy down deeper into the dermis provides huge benefits but does struggle to target the superficial epidermis and some of the indications exhibited by the ageing process, such as elasticity of the skin, pigmented lesions, and general dyschromia.

What is Most Important to your Patients, and what will be the next evolution in Skin Resurfacing Technology?
It is common for my patients to want advanced skin resurfacing procedures without their downtime.
Another advancement in microneedling is the addition of a fractional CO2 laser to provide a 360-degree approach to skin resurfacing, targeting the epidermal layers and delivering heat to the upper dermis layer. Cutera has revolutionised skin resurfacing by combining three technologies in one device, offering a safe and effective way of treating multiple concerns while minimising downtime. Cutera’s Secret PRO uses a safe, gentle CO2 skin-resurfacing application called Ultra-Light to solely target the epidermis while also utilising Secret RF’s microneedling technology to reach the sub-dermal layers. This dynamic duo is designed to deliver energy exactly where required, prevent unnecessary skin tissue damage, and dramatically reduce downtime to three to four days. Combining two gold-standard energy sources within one platform allows effective treatment by working at different skin depths. The CO2 laser gently targets the epidermis and improves the skin’s surface, while the microneedles penetrate sub-dermal layers to promote collagen production and stimulate the body’s regenerative response.
The CO2 on the Secret PRO is programmed to optimise RF Microneedling treatments with the ‘Ultra-Light’ setting, which considers the heat generated into the deep dermis from the subsequent rf microneedling treatment. I like using the CO2 element as it is easily tunable and can be used at much lower energies compared to alternatives – it can also be used in fully ablative modes for surgical treatments if needed.
The `Ultra Smooth Motor’ mechanism and 0.25mm needles on the RF Microneedling handpiece combined with the ‘Ultra-Light’ CO2 make this the ultimate combination for low-downtime advanced skin rejuvenation procedures.
